Integrating different audio formats with D.O.TEC® EXBOX.ADAT

A combined setup of an EXBOX.ADAT and an ANDIAMO.XT SRC was applied at Germanys largest music festival 'Rock am Ring'. 85 bands in three days on three stages require sophisticated logistics to broadcast the mega event via radio, television and internet stream.

Udo Lehnen from the german radio station SWR did layout the technical concept of the broadcast center:
'The audio signals from the two main stages are congregated at our broadcast center. Here we record the signals to our servers and feed the live signal via IP codec to the broadcasting studios in Baden-Baden. On the one side we use an O2R96 from Yamaha with ADAT I/Os to control level and for signal distribution. On the other side we need to gather analog and digital signals from all locations up to 1.5 km away. The D.O.TEC® EXBOX.ADAT bridges in both directions between the ADAT signals and a MADI signal which we use to connect an D.O.TEC® ANDIAMO.XT SRC. The ANDIAMO.XT SRC is a fantastic device, since all necessary conversion between analog, AES and MADI is done simultaneously by one unit. We don't even have to care about sync issues as there are SRCs at the AES inputs.'

About EXBOX.ADAT
The EXBOX.ADAT is an ADAT/MADI frontend with a straightforward concept. Equipped with eight ADAT I/Os and two MADI I/Os (optical and coaxial) it offers bidirectional conversion between ADAT and MADI signals. Automatic synchronization, fixed audio routing and a handy cabinet make the device to a valuable and easy to use assistant.

About ANDIAMO.XT SRC
The ANDIAMO.XT SRC is an AES/MADI AD/ DA converter with sample rate conversion at the AES inputs. Equipped with 32 analog I/Os, 16 AES I/Os and a MADI port it offers simultaneous conversion between all I/Os. The device is housed in a 19 inch cabinet (2 RU), provides two power supply units for redundancy and can be clocked by word clock, MADI or AES input or internally.
