German specialist DirectOut was part of the audio infrastructure at Mañana Será Bonito Fest, Colombian artist KarolG's hometown tour finale, with two sold-out nights at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

DirectOut continues to revolutionise the live audio and professional touring industry by being part of the infrastructure of the world's most important shows, tours and festivals. Between 2022 and 2023, thanks to its global expansion process and positioning in Latin America, the PRODIGY series has been implemented as the advanced management, processing and conversion solution for audio systems for festivals and high performance shows in several countries in the region.

In Medellín, KarolG performed the last concert of the first phase of his Mañana Será Bonito 2023 tour, which included several performances in arenas and stadiums across the United States. The Mañana Será Bonito Fest show (which included guest artists) had the highest standards of quality and audio performance.

Genesis Productions, users of DirectOut's PRODIGY.MP solution, was the company responsible for the local production of the event. The advanced processing and conversion units were integrated into the signal flow to ensure maximum performance of the show and provide the highest level of flexibility and reliability.

Implementation / Management of the PA System

PRODIGY. MP fulfilled a number of roles in the management of the show. Its implementation focused on centralising the operation of the d&b PA system and amplifiers associated with the main L&R system feed, outfills, frontfills and delay systems for the back areas and grandstands of the stadium.

In addition, due to the configuration of multiple audio consoles between the main artist ecosystem, guest artists and other festival participants, the PRODIGY. MP provided digital and analogue audio synchronisation for all the consoles specified for the show. Sample Rate Conversion technology made it possible to achieve this integration while maintaining clocking stability.

Audio Conversion & Processing

The multi-format hybrid audio signal flow required for the development of the festival was handled by PRODIGY, thanks to the analogue, MADI, AES and Dante audio modules integrated into the main chassis. The flexibility and modularity of the DirectOut solution was essential in providing the production with all the interoperability options needed to run the show optimally.

With this configuration, the AES feed to the PA system was realised at a later stage than the conversion of the multiple audio formats incorporated by the consoles and external devices. Within the globcon platform, the management of each audio conversion and routing was carried out according to the system configuration.

Redundancy

Another key component of PRODIGY's implementation was the redundancy built into the signal flow to ensure uninterrupted audio signal operation in the event of failure. Several redundancy technologies have been incorporated into the PRODIGY system: Input Managers to configure the backup of the main signals from the consoles, and EARS as an automatic switching mechanism with the digital protocols.

The DirectOut Latin America team, together with its distribution partner Yamaki and the specialised consultancy of the Aeris Group, provided on-site support in programming, configuring, adjusting and optimising the PRODIGY system present on the Mañana Será Bonito tour.
